The 24th Worldwide Property Show held last week at the Grand Hyatt Dubai generated record sales, with 70% of the exhibitors reporting signed business at their stands.
Over 2,670 investors attended the two and half day event, which attracted 65 developers and agents representing over 30 countries.
Mike Bridge, from the organizers Dubai Shows Ltd said, “Although the actual attendance was slightly lower than the previous show in November 06, according to our exhibitors, the investors were in a very positive mood, and we estimate that this was without doubt our most successful show in the past twelve years.
Raptis from Queensland sold over 20 million Australian Dollars worth of apartments on the Gold Coast and Barry Schwind, their sales Director said, “The last time we were here was over 3 years ago, and the appetite for buying abroad has changed dramatically. After just 4 hours, we had taken deposits!”
Natasha Copeman from Astra Bridge said, “We were selling homes in Bulgaria and were attending the show in Dubai for the first time. Since Bulgaria is now part of the EU, investment is pouring into the region.” They were selling 2 bedroom apartments on an Ian Woosman designed golf resort for just Euros150,000.
George Harb from Frontier Property said”, We understand that we are the first developer to promote real estate from Romania in the UAE, and found owning property in the country famed for Count Dracula was very popular. We did not expect such a reaction, and have taken over US$3 million worth of sales already.
The UK proved once again a popular choice for investors with one buyer paying up to GBP1,5million for six apartments in Manchester through Sherwoods. Simply Cornwall and Imagine Homes also from the UK were very busy.
Although over 70% of the exhibition space was taken by foreign exhibitors, several developers from the UAE also reported record sales including Mazaya, Best Homes, Silicon Gates, Cayan and Chapal World.
Sami Osman, Sales Manager for Mazaya’s Queue Point said, “Last week we attended Cityscape in Abu Dhabi and we expected the Worldwide Property Show this week to be quieter. To our surprise, we were really busy, and in fact had to bring in more sales staff over the weekend to handle all the enquires.”
Stuart Moore Managing Director for Silicon Gates said, “We sold four two bedroom apartments at our development and have many leads to follow up next week. A great result for us and we expect to convert many more sales in the next few weeks.”
